Non-Contact Vision and Multisensor Measurement Systems - Brown & Sharpe Optiv

The Brown & Sharpe Optiv line of vision measuring machines offer optical measuring plus multisensor capability on one flexible platform.  You can combine a video (camera) based sensor with touch probes, white light scanning, point lasers, rotary/tilt stages and more for the ultimate vision measuring system.   True multisensor and CAD capability means an Optiv system programs like a regular CMM system-- in fact, with Brown & Sharpe Optiv, it's the very same software as you use on our CMMs, like the Global.  So you have the flexibility of muliple platforms without having to learn multiple types of software.

Coordinate Measuring Machine Probes

You do have a choice of probing for your coordinate meausuring machine.  For many years there was really only one major brand in CMM probing. Today, Hexagon Metrology offers you many choices, all made by us and all completely integrated with our CMM systems.  These include the TESAStar complete system of CMM probing, including motorized heads , touch probes, stylus changing racks, CMM styli and probe racks.  We also offer the complete line of Leitz scanning probes , including fixed scanning probes and scanning probes for motorized heads . 

Non Contact CMM Probes 

Hexagon Metrology offers two types of probes that measure the part without touching it. 

The CMM-V Video Probe attaches to a motorized head to allow rapid 2D inspection of parts within its field of view. This is ideal for parts with small, repetitive 2D patterns such as punched holes, or 3D parts where you have 2D features to inspect at odd angles. The CMM-V mounted on a motorized head can be articulated to just the right angle to see the features to be inspected.  Variable software controlled LED illumination is built-in.    

The ScanShark Line laser scanner can be attached to an articulated head and used to inspect parts without touching them. This is ideal for parts that are soft-bodied and would be deformed by touching it, or parts with flowing free-form surfaces where a 3D point cloud inspection is required.   

Manual Coordinate Measuring Machines - Brown & Sharpe / TESA MicroHite 3D

For small shops and quick checks without the need for programming, the Brown & Sharpe / TESA MicroHite 3D series of manual CMMs are an ideal companion for 3D measurement of one-off parts.  Benchtop models can be placed almost anywhere in the shop where quick 3D checks are needed.  Replaces the need for hand tools like height gages, calipers and bore gages.   Touch-screen based Reflex software is easy to use and understand with minimal training. The patented Zmouse provides instant fingertip control of the measuring system from anywhere in the work envelope.

Horizontal Arm Coordinate Measuring Machines by DEA

A horizontal arm CMM provides accessibility to the largest precision manufactured parts such as body-in-white, sheet metal stampings, large welded assemblies, and large molded components.  Inline inspection where the measuring machine is integrated with a production line is possible, as well as offline inspection.  In both cases, a horizontal coordinate measuring system can be programmed for repetitive, automatic inspection where a high volume of parts is produced.   Hexagon Metrology produces the DEA brand of horizontal arm CMMs.

Gantry Coordinate Measuring Machines by DEA

A Gantry CMM allows automated precision inspection of the largest parts and assemblies such as airplane wings, entire vehicle bodies, large welded assemblies, and large gears.
