TESASCAN Introduction

If you're in the business of manufacturing round parts, then the TESASCAN range of machines provide the ultimate measurement solution. Developed by world leading metrology company, Hexagon Metrology, Inc., TESASCAN are fully automatic machines, designed specifically for the non-contact measurement of round components.

The system uses opto-electronic projection which enables the measurement of all common round part geometry including small intricate forms like radii and angles. The major benefit of non contact technology is the ability to perform such measurements with a combination of speed, flexibility and accuracy not previously possible.

The advanced video processing system, which is at the heart of TESASCAN, can take measurement data from the part at up to 12,000 points/second. This value may be meaningless to the user, but the end result is an unbelievable measuring speed. For instance, every external dimension of one typical turned part - 30 features in total - took 10 seconds.

TESASCAN is easy to use. The built-in projector is a familiar feature that helps promote confidence and acceptability.

With the TESASCAN range of machines it is possible to accurately measure, under automatic control, all shapes and sizes of round component with diameters of up to 180mm and lengths up to 900mm, all under automatic control and with consistent results within a shop floor environment.

A range of purpose designed work holding tools is available. These are based on Morse No. 2 industry standard and can be changed very quickly to facilitate precise location of many different workpiece shapes, keeping machine change-over times to an absolute minimum.

TESASCAN is very fast, with an inherent flexibility that makes it readily suitable for a wide range of applications, from large transmission shafts to very small turned and ground components. Edges and diameters can be measured with full accuracy in less than one second!

Programming is also particularly fast and flexible. Part programs are easily prepared on or off line, on a Windows NT platform and are stored permanently for rapid recall. TESASCAN 50 can be easily networked or interfaced to an existing shop-floor data collection system allowing the operator to select a variety of display formats or analyze the data using SPC/SQC options.

TESASCAN machines are designed for users who need to perform precise dimensional measurements on cylindrical parts directly in a shop-floor environment.
